Picked up a battery booster. It’ll also charge by USB and says it’ll hold a charge for a year, and it came charged! Hope I won’t need to use it, but I bought it just in case.

I am glad to have this instead of doing another battery pull in -40.

I've been thinking something like that might not be a bad idea. The civic barely started the past two days after leaving work, and it's only been -24 during the day. It has been roughly five years since I last replaced the battery. At least with something like that I could bring it inside and keep it warm in my office during the day.

Current sunrise here in Lethbridge is 8:24 am, so not far off.

That’s my reasoning as well. It was $140, but it can boost up to 1200 amps and has a 16000 mAh battery, and is small enough I could keep in the car with no worries. It gives me a little more confidence until I can install the battery blanket.

We’ll see you at the battle, too, then. Whoever survives moves on to the second round, which is curling. The third round of a canoe race has been postponed until this godforsaken weather ends.

I guess in my mind, this is somewhat normal for January. Two to three weeks of -20 or worse.  Maybe that's what I get for growing up East of Edmonton.

Oh, I know it’s normal. But I’m also from Toronto, so I didn’t see -40 until I left the city for university.

Canadian Tire is the spot to buy tools.  I haven’t lived in Canada for 15 years, I still buy most of my tools from there.  It’s worth the trip.

I have a much weaker DBPower unit, and I have used it successfully to start my car once (and a few times as a power bank). I’m always amazed at how much smaller these are than older jump starters, which presumably used lead-acid batteries.

How’s the battery tender?  I am putting the ST into storage soon and am looking to get a trickle charger/tender to maintain the battery against vampire draw

I like it. Works well, and they're usually not expensive. Just be sure to follow the instructions.
